Your mission

As an Engineering Manager QA (m/f/d), you will be the driving force behind our quality engineering transformation. You own the QA strategy and vision, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the entire software development lifecycle rather than being an afterthought. Your mission is to elevate our quality practices to the next level by championing modern approaches like shift-left testing, continuous testing, and intelligent automation.

Your Tasks

Strategy & Vision

Define and execute a comprehensive QA strategy that aligns with business objectives and product roadmaps
Drive the cultural shift toward quality ownership across engineering teams, embedding quality as everyone's responsibility
Establish quality metrics and KPIs that provide meaningful insights into product health and team effectiveness

Modern Quality Practices

Champion shift-left testing practices, ensuring defects are caught as early as possible in the development cycle
Build and evolve a sustainable test automation strategy that maximizes coverage while minimizing maintenance overhead
Integrate quality gates seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, confident releases

Leadership & Collaboration

Partner with Engineering, Product, and CI leadership to align quality initiatives with organizational goals
Mentor and grow QA engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
Tightly connect with product experts and utilize their knowledge to align the QA strategy
Collaborate with stakeholders to balance quality, speed, and risk appropriately

Continuous Improvement

Identify bottlenecks in the development process and implement solutions that improve both quality and velocity
Stay ahead of industry trends and evaluate emerging tools and methodologies for adoption
Drive data-informed decisions about where to invest in quality efforts for maximum impact
Foster knowledge sharing and transfer to build up extensive product and user understanding within the team

Your profile

Several years of experience in quality engineering with a proven track record of building and scaling QA organizations
Deep understanding of what drives long-term software quality: shift-left approaches, test pyramid principles, continuous testing, and sustainable automation strategies
Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in test automation frameworks and programming (Python preferred; Linux environment experience is a plus)
Experience implementing quality practices in CI/CD environments and working closely with CI teams
Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern engineering practices (TDD, BDD, trunk-based development, feature flags)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
Strategic mindset paired with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach
Business fluent in English; German language skills or willingness to learn are a plus
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Als Engineering Manager QA (m/w/d) bist du die treibende Kraft hinter unserer Transformation im Bereich Qualitätssicherung. Du verantwortest die QA-Strategie und -Vision und stellst sicher, dass Qualität während des gesamten Softwareentwicklungsprozesses verankert ist – und nicht nur als nachträglicher Schritt betrachtet wird. Deine Aufgaben

Strategie & Vision

Entwicklung und Umsetzung einer umfassenden QA-Strategie, die mit den Geschäftszielen und den Produkt-Roadmaps übereinstimmt
Vorantreiben des kulturellen Wandels hin zu Qualitätsverantwortung in allen Engineering-Teams, sodass Qualität zur gemeinsamen Aufgabe wird
Etablierung von Qualitätsmetriken und KPIs, die aussagekräftige Einblicke in den Produktzustand und die Effektivität der Teams geben

Moderne Qualitätspraktiken

Förderung von Shift-Left-Testing-Praktiken, um Fehler so früh wie möglich im Entwicklungsprozess zu erkennen
Aufbau und Weiterentwicklung einer nachhaltigen Testautomatisierungsstrategie mit maximaler Abdeckung und minimalem Wartungsaufwand
Nahtlose Integration von Quality Gates in CI/CD-Pipelines für schnelle und sichere Releases

Führung & Zusammenarbeit

Zusammenarbeit mit Engineering-, Produkt- und CI-Leads, um Qualitätsoffensiven mit den Zielen der Organisation abzustimmen
Mentoring und Weiterentwicklung von QA-Ingenieur:innen zur Förderung einer Kultur des Lernens und der technischen Exzellenz
Enge Zusammenarbeit mit Produktexpert:innen zur Ausrichtung der QA-Strategie an fachlichem Wissen
Zusammenarbeit mit Stakeholdern zur ausgewogenen Bewertung von Qualität, Geschwindigkeit und Risiko

Kontinuierliche Verbesserung

Identifikation von Engpässen im Entwicklungsprozess und Umsetzung von Lösungen zur Verbesserung von Qualität und Geschwindigkeit
Beobachtung von Branchentrends sowie Bewertung neuer Tools und Methoden für eine mögliche Einführung
Datenbasierte Entscheidungen über gezielte Investitionen in QA-Maßnahmen mit maximalem Impact
Förderung von Wissensaustausch und Knowhow-Transfer zur Steigerung des Produkt- und Nutzerverständnisses im Team

Dein Profil

Mehrjährige Erfahrung im Bereich Qualitätssicherung mit nachweislichen Erfolgen beim Aufbau und Skalieren von QA-Organisationen
Tiefgehendes Verständnis für nachhaltige Softwarequalität: Shift-Left-Ansätze, Testpyramide, kontinuierliches Testen, langfristige Automatisierungsstrategien
Starke technische Grundlagen und praktische Erfahrung mit Testautomatisierungs-Frameworks und Programmierung (vorzugsweise Python; Erfahrung mit Linux-Umgebungen ist ein Plus)
Erfahrung mit der Umsetzung von Qualitätssicherungspraktiken in CI/CD-Umgebungen sowie enge Zusammenarbeit mit CI-Teams
Vertraut mit agilen Methoden und modernen Entwicklungspraktiken (TDD, BDD, Trunk-Based Development, Feature Flags)
Ausgezeichnete Kommunikationsfähigkeiten und Fähigkeit, auf allen Ebenen des Unternehmens zu überzeugen
Strategisches Denken kombiniert mit einer pragmatischen und ergebnisorientierten Herangehensweise
Verhandlungssicheres Englisch; Deutschkenntnisse oder Bereitschaft zum Spracherwerb sind von Vorteil
